I have been quiet on the blog lately, more then usual. It's because I'm in the process of designing something that I want to make come to reality in EvE. It involves a good amount of reasearch, planning, and then some whole hearted get down and dirty "make it happen" elbow grease.

I'm not quite ready to lay all my plans out for you, but in time once it's in the rolling out phase, I may. So bear with me and watch this space.

Untill then, I will try to remember to get some other topics up here, as I still have a list of things I want to convey on here.

Perception

This one word is so
important in running a corporation in Eve. It is the act of determining what is
going on by watching and making a judgment on what you are seeing or hearing.
This does not mean that you are right, and in some cases you will be dead wrong
in what you have decided is happening. Depending on the situation, and the
importance of the act you have observed, this could be detrimental to you, and
your corporation.

What do I mean by
this? Everything boils down to how we as humans perceive our surroundings, and
what could be dangerous to us, and our way of life. We all have a lack of trust
that is there to protect us, and in Eve it is heightened due to what we have
witnessed, and read about. What we do is always seen by others, maybe in the
right light, but where there could be cause for alarm we will err on the side
of caution, and hushed whispers that something is up, and needs to be watched
carefully. These emotions are heightened when seen through the eyes of higher
ranked people within your corporation, since they have more to lose, and a greater
sense of responsibility to protect the Corporation and its members from harm.

An example would be
someone pushing for more roles within the corporation, they may just want to be
a bigger part of what’s happening, but they could also want those roles to
sabotage your corporation and steal its assets. It all comes down to the
perception of the command structure of the corporation, and what they deem as
suspicious behavior. The person wanting more roles could be innocent of any
wrong thinking, or malicious plans, but in a game like Eve it doesn’t matter.
Trust is earned slowly in most corporations, one’s that have been burned before
and one’s that have seen or heard it happen to others.

A good rule of thumb
is to be up front with the members of your corporation, or your corporation CEO’s
if you’re a leader of an alliance. If people know the intentions, and the base
perceptions for common actions within your leadership, they are more apt to
understand how things work in your command and what is considered poor form, or
inappropriate actions that will cause undue scrutiny upon you or your
corporation.

As always a certain
amount of transparency goes along way to helping new people to your
corporation, or new corporations to your alliance adjust and understand the
reasons behind your command style. Eve is a game of distrust, but in the end
when that trust is earned and appreciated it becomes the kind of trust that
will last. Most spies will try to gain your trust quickly, after all time is
money, and they want your money and don’t want to spend years doing it. Be
advised though, there are people out there that play that game, they will spend
all the time in the world to get you to make them a director, you will think he’s
your best friend, he has your back, and would never do anything to harm you or
the corporation he so lovingly pledges himself to, so be careful, be vigilant,
but above all else be aware that the more you play this game, the easier it
will become to perceive when something is not quite right.

I was thinking of what I would like to see in the coming expansions for EvE Online. This is just my wishlist and opinion on what that might look like.

Ruin – Summer Expansion 2014

System shake up / all three sectors

The creation of
several Solar / and nebula events that will persist in the game universe. Space
is not meant to be static, and there should be areas of space that are harsher,
or change up the effects that occur in them. You do this to some extent in WH
space with the suns granting buffs or debuffs to your ships. Just as everyday
life on earth, the sun does not shine everyday, we have different weather
effects that can cause us to change our plans, and in some cases, make us run
for cover. Every system should not be the same all the time. Expanding on the
exploration aspect some of these events or occurrences should have to be
scanned down, and then exploited or marked as dangerous areas. The possibility
of starting out with a system or two in all four races areas, low, and 0.0
space could see changes occurring to space in 12 to 20 systems to begin with
and expanding out from there to create swaths of systems that create a natural
block that will alter how we play the game to adjust to these phenomena. For lack
of a better name, there could be the use of the terms Badlands (no shields
worked, even on POS’s), Briar Patch (loss of all communications, or cloaking
ability), ship altering nebula (unable to target, loss of shields, inability to
warp or use micro warp drives), photon, plasma or ion storms (storms that would
last a finite time in a system that would disrupt any number of things), comets
(visual), black holes ( being in proximity to one of these would crush your
structure), meteor showers (visual), the list goes on.

New NPC Pirate faction

A new Faction, not necessarily
pirates, but a group of capsuleers that have broken off from the main stream. Calling
themselves the Jovian Guard, they have set up shop in a 0.0 system close to low
sec. This new faction wants to be left alone and to their own devises. Claiming
a system as their own and fighting fiercely over it, defending it against
anyone that enters it. The AI would be more advanced with this faction and they
would set up gate camps, and you would also find they have mining barges in the
belts that when attacked would call for help and have other ships arrive to
fight off the attackers.

This new faction
would have claimed this system and have a TCU set up and defended. If left
alone and free to do what they want, they will eventually expand to a random
neighboring system and begin attacks against the inhabitants of the new system.
This faction would be an expansion on the current ratting as you would need
small fleets of ships to take them on.

Expansion on exploration

To expand further on
the exploration theme added anomalies would be added that could aid or be
potentially damaging upon being found. These new anomalies would have to be
scanned down, and then once pin pointed the capsuleer would have to figure out
what these new sites did, and how they could either benefit themselves or
others. The ability to sell this information is an option as it would take a
very good scanner to find these different and amazing sites.

Some ideas would be
a pocket of null space that once you warped to it you found yourself in a
section of space that had no stars and was completely black. You would have to
work out that this section of space removed you from local, and any type of
scan. This could also be compounded by trying to figure out its size, and not
knowing how long this anomaly will last.

You could also find
a section of space that once you warped to it after scanning started to eat
away at your shields, armor, or structure. This could be potentially dangerous
to anyone who entered it.

More dust integration / new ships

Add two new ships to
Eve that would work with dust game play. I am not sure if this could be done,
but it is an interesting idea. Based off the shuttle design of the four races
we could develop new fighters that would not be warp capable but would be able
to have atmospheric flight. These new fighters would be transported in a
smaller carrier the size would be somewhere between a Battleship, and a carrier,
and be capable of carrying up to 5 fighters into a district for air support
from eve players into dust.

A more robust contract system /
diplomacy

Add new contracts to
the contract system to allow for diplomatic contracts that would span 1, 3, and
6 month periods. This new contracts could be used for renting, non aggression
pacts, and Alliance/
Coalition dues. This could be expanded further as the need arises.

Fleet command revamp

The Fleet command system would be limited to
50 ships per fleet, and the fleet commander could set a certain number of specific
ships that would be allowed to join it. For example a certain number of
logistic ships / bombers, etc. limiting the fleet size would make it more
interesting as you would need more fleet commanders, and more coordination between
fleets to accomplish your goals, instead of blobbing.

The other idea was
to set a mass limit on cyno’s, there is a mass limit to entering wormhole space,
why not how many ships you can jump in on one cyno? This change would require
that a new section on the fleet tab would have to be made showing the current
mass of a fleet. The possibility is also there to add a new capital cyno as
well that had a larger mass, but could only jump capital ships in.

We could also add a
new ship here, called a bridging ship. It would be designed as a fleet command
ship that would allow a link to the cyno and jump the fleet.

Risk / reward build

With the new system
effects, and adding harshness to some sectors of space should also bring a
better risk / reward design to those areas. If you wanted to brave the new
effects and set up in those areas, the reward should be equal to its dangers.
Adding these elements would also change how we would fight within these
sectors, if we would fight, and where we would make a stand. The potential to
use these new effects to our advantage, or against our enemy would be
different.

Unknown elements that must be
figured out

Exploration should
be just that, and some of the things that are found, or new effects with in the
systems should have to be figured out, and not hand feed to us. The idea of
finding strange new sections of space, and then having to figure out just what
they do would add a interesting and fun element to the game.

Corporation revamp / recruitment /
no more 3 man corps

The Ability to
recruit has always been tough, unless you’re a huge coalition or alliance. This
causes the game to stagnate as there should always be newer alliances, and
corporations that are on the rise, and pushing for their own piece of space. I
am not asking for a free pass, or a way to stop them from recruiting. There
needs to be a way to limit the small to non existent 1-5 man Corporations that
are so abundant in the game. I understand that Eve is a sandbox, and you should
play however you want to play. I am just stating it’s very hard right now to
find a way to recruiting players.

New exploration skills / navigation
skills

The Idea that we could add new skills that would
help with what we find out in these new areas would have to be handled in a
different way. I can’t see these skills just going up on the market as soon as
the expansion hits, as that would defeat the idea of going out there and
finding out what’s there, and how it affects us.

There are two ideas
I have that would maybe work better, or at least until the winter expansion
came out. The first is to seed certain ships found in these new areas with the
skill books that would lead to the new skills. They could be rare drops with
not more than a dozen or two (combined) dropping in the first month. These new
skills would allow for better navigation, scanning, or engineering to alleviate
some of the effects found in the new
systems. It would be interesting if there was a way to copy these skill books
for resale as well, but it would have to take a decent amount of time to copy
them.

New exploration modules

New modules could
also be introduced in the same way as above. I have also thought it would be
interesting if you could have systems that required two modules to be fitted to
work, it would make for some interesting fits.

Industry as a major advantage to

I have always found that not all Alliances,
but some always neglect the industry side of things. The quote “PvP makes you
deadly, but Industry keeps you that way” has always stuck in my head. I am not
sure if it could be expanded on, but I know that CCP is trying to do this now,
so it’s possible that this will be the case in the near future.

Frontiers will
expand on the Summer Expansion, with the addition of more systems having
effects that change the way we play the game. I look forward to what CCP is
doing, and by all means am not knocking the direction it is headed. I would
just like to see some more interactive space in the future.

Home.

What does that make
you think of? A place where you feel safe, secure, and know you can always go
to and be happy. Most people hate to move. You have to pack all your stuff up
and either rent a truck, or hire movers, or con your friends into helping you
for a six pack and a pizza. It sucks, no two ways around it, and no one wants
to do it in Eve either. There are many places in Eve that you can find yourself
constantly moving your stuff, and I'm not talking about working out of a home
system and moving some of your stuff to a staging system to be closer to combat
operations. I am talking about being in a corporation or alliance that is
constantly on the move with no place to really call your home. People will end
up creating their own home in some station that they feel is beneficial to them,
not your corporation or alliance. You really can't blame them everyone needs a
place to live even in Eve.

There are some corporations,
and alliances that have made it work for them and their members and that’s
fine. I am not that kind of person, so this is for those of you that are like
me and want a little stability in your Eve universe life. It has been written
that if you can provide three basic needs to a person then there moral and happiness
will be better off for it. Shelter, food, and clothing are these staples, but
in Eve it’s different. Food is non existent, and clothing for most of us is as
well. Shelter though in Eve terms is there, and needed if only for a place to
keep my stuff.

Stations are our
shelter, be it in high sec, low sec, wormholes or 0.0 we need a place to keep
our stuff. How many of us pull up our assets screen and it’s a mile long? Hands
anyone? There are only a few stations that truly hold what is most important to
us, the rest is just space junk for some of us. When you join a corporation or
alliance they will tell you they are based out of some station somewhere in
Eve, so we as good little pilots start our trek to the HOME system, and
station. This is now going to be our home where we will live, and socialize
with our merry band of brothers until death, rebirth and death do us part.

Corporations usually
run out of one system. I say usually because there are different types of
corporations in Eve and this statement is and will be modified by someone. I
can tell you that when I started I lived in Jakenerva almost extensively for
more then six months. Mining, ratting, planetary interaction, what have you was
always done there, except for jumping a system to ice mine. It was and is a
good system, and it was my home for awhile. When your corporation decides to
move forward you begin to realize that you have to move forward as well. Depending
on what the goals of your corporation are, or you join an alliance and may have
to move to a lower security system or wormhole space to continue to be a part
of it. Where ever you end up, you want to feel somewhat stable, you want to
know your going to be there for a little while. Constant moving is a drain on resources,
logistics, and time better spent play the game. Understanding that if you PvP
at all you will still have staging systems, and fleet deployments that you must
attend. There isn’t really a problem with moving some combat ships into the
area of operations, as long as you know you have a home somewhere to go back
to, work out of, and generate some kind of income no matter how small.

Welcome to the jungle

I also want to know
that there is someone watching over my home, and providing security for it. Enter
the home defense fleet that rag tag group of guys that make sure the system we
call home stays that way. Who are these people? Look in the mirror, because if
you live there you're one of them. Yes you, being a part of a corporation or an
alliance means there are no free rides. You wanted to be part of something
bigger, congratulations you are, and you are now part of defending it.

Home defense fleets differ depending on the
corporation, alliance, and the system or systems that need protection.
Corporations that field a home defense fleet are usually protecting their
assets, and not really the system. Depending on the size of the corporation it
could effectively protect a whole system, but usually other corporations would
band together to do this.

Alliances are a
different story. Depending on the size of the alliance, you could have several
corporations tasked with defending a system from your enemies. Alliances would
be more structured in how this is done. Alliances would select corporations
that will work together to defend one or more systems, and to be the early
warning system to put out a call to a bigger fleet to assist. Generally it’s a
good practice to have these fleets up and active at all times, to make sure
everyone involved is on a communication channel, and to have a special chat
channel for that home defense fleet running.

Making the CEO’s and
directors “fleet leaders” should ensure that those responsible make these
things happen, and to adhere to whatever the policy or current orders from the
alliance leadership are in place. If your little piece of space heaven is safe,
there could be a rule in effect that says go and check the surrounding systems.
I personally wouldn't go more than one or two jumps from your assigned system. Corporations
that are not actively on communication channels, chat channels or in fleet
should be looked at to see if there’s a problem, and what can be done to fix
it.

The bonus to doing
something like this is over time you will start to see potential fleet
commanders come from these positions. Using this method you can move these “potential
commanders” up and into larger fleets, and have someone else step into their
old position. This allows the process to begin again, and the new fleet leaders
of home defense forces become the new candidates for fleet commanders in time.

When setting up
industrial operations there are a few things that you must consider. Where am I
running these operations, and what do I have to work with? These two questions
will determine what your next steps will be.

High Security Space

In High sec there isn’t
much to worry about, and the biggest question will be what you have to work
with. In my opinion the minimum mining fleet will consist of a command ship and
two to three mining barges. This will allow for boosts the fleet, and a large
ore bay from the command ship, however this is not optimal since the orca would
have to make trips back to the station to unload and the fleet would lose it’s
boosts during this time. Adding a hauler to this fleet would mean that the boosts
stay on the field and the hauler could make the trips to unload making the
fleet more efficient. Anything you add to this fleet would just make it more of
a beast, as with the current set up you could chew through a belt in less than
an hour.

Low Security Space

In Low sec things
start to change, and not for the better. Industrial operations in low sec can
be very dangerous, and become a bit more expensive to run. In low security you
will have a large number of pirate corporations just itching to add to their
kill mails with the loss of your fat and non combat ships. Any corporation in
low sec that are thinking of mining out there needs to supplement you mining
fleet with a security force of combat pilots to protect it. I would also
suggest that any mining operations stay as streamlined and compact as possible
limiting the amount of targets you present to someone. Using ventures in this
situation is a great idea as they are fast and already come with built in warp
stabs for a quick get away. In low sec I would also make sure that when entering
a belt make sure all your ships are aligned to either a station or a safe to ensure
the fasted warp out possible. Operations need to run as quickly and effectively
as possible, get what you need and get out.

0.0

Believe it or not, depending
on the situation and safety of the system you are working in out in 0.0, it’s almost
as safe as high sec. A mixture of both High, and low sec strategies apply here.
Using the fleet composition described for high sec will work with a few exceptions.
Using a Rorqual boosting off grid safe in a POS will give you great bonuses, especially
if you have it in industrial mode, and your skills are high enough. Add the orca
for hauling and either a bunch of ventures, or for their massive hp’s and ore holds,
mackinaws. Make sure that you are following the same procedures as in low sec,
by aligning to a station, pos, or a safe for quick warp outs if trouble shows
up. Make sure you watch local, you will see them when they jump into system,
don’t wait warp as soon as you do.

Conclusion

Mining can be a lucrative
isk generator. Ore
and minerals sell well on the market and can infuse your corporation with much
needed isk. If you have the players with the right skills in your corporation
production can also be done, but make sure at least one active player has
perfect refining to get the most out of the ore you mine.

The opinions and
ideas I have laid out are for a small to medium sized Corporation. If your
corporation is large enough I would suggest that you keep your mining fleets to
a manageable size and split them up between belts. This not only helps to not
draw attention to yourself since large fleets are a target only because of the
pack mentality of your enemy since they will attempt to scatter you and pick
off the person that didn't warp fast enough or was sleeping / AFK.

In Part two, I
will attempt to explain the benefits to conducting mining fleet operations and
how the proceeds could be used and distributed to your members. Alliances as
well as corporations will be included in my ideas for discussion. Zensai Igunenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07792263776171574486noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2101213167132981257.post-78018289680380076342013-04-26T08:10:00.002-04:002013-04-26T08:14:43.517-04:00Knowledge

"Knowledge is Power"

This saying alone says it all. The more you know, the better you can deal with whatever comes along. It is much more than that in the world of Eve. Game or not Eve is driven by players, and most content is player created and can affect a great number of players. A good example of this is Burn Jita, and when the Ice interdiction was going on. Any corporation, or alliance learns this early on if they have any hope of surviving and reaching any far reaching goals they have set out for themselves.

The more you know about what you're doing the better you can perform the tasks at hand. This goes for any aspect of Eve. If you want to scan down sites and do complexes, then you better have the skills and knowledge of what you are looking for, and how to find it. In Eve time is isk.

Industrial corporations, and alliances need to learn how to get the most from their time in the belts, the best way to get the most from their refining, and the cheapest way to build the ships and modules that will make them money. Being inefficient can cost you isk that would be better spent on your members, and the needed goods the Corporation requires to continue in the black. Learning what skills are needed, what implants work best, and how many people are required to make the best of any operation is imperative.

Military corporations, and alliances have similar needs, but are also more diverse in the information needed in order to complete its given role, or task. Starting at the bottom it needs combat pilots, they don't have to be good, but their knowledge of ship types, and roles is important. you can tell anyone what ships to fly, but they need to be taught why, and sometimes how to do it. It is a fact of life that not everyone is great at something when they first start out, and learning / teaching them the right things to do must be done. Dismissing someone because they can't solo PvP right away is throwing away a potential ace pilot because you couldn't be bothered with them. Eve is a harsh game with a sharp learning curve, those that keep trying are the ones you want to take under your wing and teach them what, why, and how to succeed since they already have the will and heart to want to continue in the Eve universe. Starting potential fleet commanders out in leading home defense fleets is a good idea, teaching them the leadership, and highly structured skills of fleet command with small steps, and building on that so "some" may someday take the reigns of large fleets within your corporation, or alliance and lead them to massive victories.

Understanding that military operations are not always jamming a square peg into a round hole, but a concerted effort between a large number of people. Intelligence gained prior to any campaign, logistics moved prior to an operation, and operation security is all needed to lead a campaign to victory. "Work smarter, not harder" are words to live by in warfare in Eve. Learning and using strategy and tactics to confuse, and misdirect the enemy is essential to winning the war, and not just one battle. Understand what you can do with black ops, the psychological impact it can have on an enemy, and the ability to jump a black ops fleet in that can't be found is immeasurable in a campaign.

Training can not be understated. When not in a war or running a major campaign, take a fleet out and get them used to your voice and mannerisms as a fleet commander. Anything you can do to get you pilots comfortable will be useful when the heat is turned up and you are fighting for your life and an important battle later on.

In the end the more prepared you are, the more you know about Eve, the more you learn about how things work, and the more you put into your preparation before you rush into a war, battle, or operation the better the outcome will be.
They ask what we have to offer, and they tell me what they have to offer my corporation. The atmosphere is light, yet both sides understand that this is serious internet spaceships that we’re talking about. The issue of security comes up, and the need for my full API key, for my toons, and my corporation is needed to continue to the next level. I supply my full API Key and set it to expire in 48 hours, which is agreed upon by both sides as enough time to check it out.
Our application is accepted and we are now part of a bigger brotherhood, and a larger part of the game. Our corporation at this point feels that we can make a real difference in Eve now.

From the Alliance Leader I receive information as to the structure of the Alliance leadership, and who I would go to for certain information. A list of mailing lists broken down into specific departments that are either mandatory to join, like the CEO mailing list, or some of the others, like industry or logistics. It lists any mandatory meetings and when they are, and the time to be there for them. The mail continues on to explain the SRP Program, and any other Alliance programs that benefit all the corporations, as well as programs that are set up to help the Alliance generate isk, and how we can be a part of them. The Mail finishes with a note from the Alliance Diplomats, and Recruiters as to the knowledge of any other corporations that may be a good fit for the Alliance, are that we as a corporation have good standing with. This information could be used to help build up the Alliance, or garner favor with other corporations and Alliances.

4. I then receive a mail from the Industrial arm of the alliance explaining what their all about, and given a link to survey monkey to fill out a quick survey to give the alliance a good idea of what my corporations capabilities are. We are also told that the alliance has alliance wide contracts up for fully fitted doctrine ships to buy, as well as contracts that we as a corporation can fill to help the alliance bolster it's goods and materials. The industrial Leader's mail goes on to let us know what the alliance has for current operations, and how to join them, and when they are.

5. The last mail we receive is from the Military Commander of the Alliance. This letter contains all the information needed to join fleets, and are directed to fleet.com to see the alliance doctrines and current operations. We are also assigned a system for home defense, that we, along with other corporations in the alliance are responsible for protecting. There are many opertunities in the military arm that we as a corporation will be able to take advantage of.

With all this information we are ready to become a productive part of this new alliance. Knowing that the alliance is set up and structured in a way to handle anything that comes its way makes me feel comfortable that the alliance will last. This doesn't always happen, and you will see some of these things in any alliance you join. This highly structured system is dependent on the people running the Alliance, and their need to make sure that not only is the alliance is taken care of, but also that of the corporation within the Alliance. Corporations are the backbone of any alliance, without them you have nothing. Knowing this, and working with and for the CEO's of the Alliance will ensure the staying power, and growth of any alliance.

I probably could add more, and get more involved in what I have written, but I want to keep it short. I will post more on this topic in future posts.

An Eve online Alliance is a group of
Corporations with like minded vision and Focus that has banded together for
common goals. The leader(s) of the Alliance must

to make sure that any one man trying to lead an alliance does not get burned
out, and therefore become ineffective in running, and leading an Alliance.
Compartmentalizing the common duties into sections that are manageable is a
necessity that can not be overlooked. By dividing up the Work needed to run an

Location, Location, Location, that’s what most real estate agents know about selling homes, but it’s also the way to go for your new corporation as well. Your Corporations needs a good home to base all your major operations out of, you may end up with more than one, but there will be one that will be your headquarters. Try to pick a system that benefits your corporation vision. If you’re going to do industry, then a system with a decent amount of asteroid belts, and maybe an Ice belt, or an ice belt next system over would be good. Look for a cluster of agents too, ones that you want to use for loyalty points, and reputation. Remember that increased reputation will allow for perfect refining. If you’re going the PvP route, then maybe a system on the edge of low sec, or an area you want to roam in would be a better choice.

Agents, reputation, and loyalty points are a must for a budding Corporation. Agents allow for you, your corporation, and your members to do missions, and gain reputation and loyalty points to use in that NPC corporations loyalty point store. We used a system that had all four agents, from level one, to level four. When we did this, we could move a newer player right up the ladder of agents without them having to move to different systems. This is a rare find, but if you can keep the last two agents, level four, and five ones near each other, and close to your main base of operations, that would work well for keeping your people close together.

Reputation as we have already gone over is important for perfect refining. When your reputation gets to an eight, you are allowed to purchase jump clones with that NPC corporation.

Loyalty points can be used to purchase items from the NPC loyalty store, these include a great many things that could be used by your corporation, or its members.

Keeping your corporations members together is important, it allows you to easily form up fleets, or have events without having to worry about your people being scattered all over the galaxy. Industry based corporations could have everything they need set up in one system. Finding a system with production facilities that are not heavily used, and an area that is not already heavily mined is not an impossibility, as long as you put in a little work. PvP corporations have to decide what their plan is going to be, and where they’re going to set up will be determined by this.

The Idea of location, and keeping your corporation together, and available will help with the making of ISK for you, your corporation, and your members.Zensai Igunenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07792263776171574486noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2101213167132981257.post-11343807665693994812013-01-13T13:58:00.001-05:002013-01-13T13:58:06.720-05:00Redefining Local Chat

In order to redefine local chat, we must first decide what it was intended to be in the first place. I myself see it as a type of watered down in system radar if you will, since our ships don’t have the typical radar system you would think of from modern day planes.

I have read several posts about how local is broken, and that it needs to be fixed. I agree to some degree that local doesn’t work the way it should, well at least in the way it should if it were indeed a type of radar. In some of the posts, they mention transponders, air traffic controllers, and how things work in the real world. I understand what they were getting at, and believe that there would be a way that would make local work differently, and more in line with these ideas.

“Transponders” are already in place and working, as I see it, these are the icons that let you know who is hostile and friendly out there. The ability to see everyone in the system is where we have our issues, since it creates some advantages that would not normally be there, as well as some disadvantages too. The advantages are that you are able to see everyone that is in the system when they enter even if there cloaked, or docked up in a station. This disadvantage is that you can see them, but have no clue where they are.

In High Sec, Concord would have the infrastructure in place to allow local to work the way it does now, with the ability to network transponder, and radar type systems throughout the whole system. Three major differences could be added though the ability to cloak would mean not being seen in local, When docked at a station you would drop from local, and also the ability to warp to someone in local since if you show up on local then we should have some idea where you are. I know this probably wouldn’t be popular, and I’m not really looking at this from that stand point, just from a logical one. It would however create some interesting new confrontations in High Sec.

In Low Sec, Concord is slowly losing some control over what kind of network they can run and maintain. Transponder information is still available, but their radar type systems are starting to degrade. Here you could have spotty Local, stations could maintain a certain radius that would show up in local, maybe 500 km – 2500 km radius that when you are in station, or in that stations radar radius you would see those in local. If you are docked up in station you can see who’s in that stations radar radius in local, but people in space would not see anyone that would be docked in station on their local. People that you see in local can be warped to. The ability to be able to see people in local will shift to a new mid slot module that will be explained later.

In Null Sec, Concord has no networking for radar type systems. They do however have built in transponder codes in the system jump gates that track all ship transponders in the systems. This will allow players, when they can see you in local, to identify you. The ability to see anything in local will now shift to SOV structures, Alliance Owned Stations, Player Owned Stations, and Ship Fittings. SOV structures such as TCU’s, and I-Hubs would have modules that could be installed to give Alliance members and other people set blue to that alliance a bonus to their radar radius around their ships within that system. Alliance Owned Stations could have a module installed that would expand the radar radius around that station that would allow Alliance members and people set blue to that alliance to see others within that radius in local. Player Owned Stations could have a module that could be set up to expand their stations radar radius, much like is done with a gun or warp disruptor, and would have to be anchored outside of the POS shields. Ship Fitting modules to expand a radar radius around your ship, there would be several types of modules that would give you a bonus to your base radar radius of your ship, with the common diminishing returns, and the bigger the bonus, the more power grid, and cpu it would eat up. Null Sec would change, and we would see new ship fitting types as the need for ships that took on the role of eye in the system would be born. Stealth would take on a bigger role, and there would also be the need for hunters to kill these new ships.

A new ship statistic would be born, as all ships would have to have some sort of a base radar radius that they could see out to, with the bigger ship hulls having a larger radius. The ability to gang link your new “eye” ship would be nice as well. Imagine being in a fleet with a gang linked “eye” ship that would give your fleet the ability to see what they can see in local, and warp to them as well, this would change fleet fighting. Of course the “eye” ship would be primary, as when it is destroyed you would lose all information that was being relayed to the fleet, making it blind.

I would like to also see a new missile that would be for hunting stealthy ships. Keeping these to standard missile launchers, and light missiles would keep T1 & T2 frigates viable for this role. The new missile would do minimal damage, and fire straight in front of the ship to a predetermined distance before exploding. Sort of like a depth charge in space. When it exploded, it would have around a 5,000 k explosion radius, and any stealthy ship caught would lose its cloak.

I would also like to see a new module, or ship that would help in the hunting of stealthy ships, something along the lines of a ship, or module that could actively search out a cloaked ship with an active radar “ping”, but I think that would be too hard to code into the game.

I think if there was an easy way of implementing these ideas, it would make for a more interesting experience as you move to low sec, or null sec. The new system would change the tactics of Alliances with the need for dedicated intelligence for systems. It would also pump some adrenaline in to more of the actions taken in these areas.

The following tables should be helpful in deciding which modules to install in your ship before undocking for a fight.
Note: Percentage of damage inflicted is calculated taking into consideration the type and amount of damage per second (DPS) of each ship and turret used by the faction/corporation weighted on the frequency of its spawn.

Making ISK is your next task. There are many different ways of doing this, and how you do it will be determined by what you and your corporations’ vision are. If you’re going to be PvP’ers, I will be up front and honest about the fact that this is not something I am all that familiar with, but will do my best to convey what I think could possibly help you. If I am way off, maybe someone will comment as to what would be better.

You must realize as with any venture, your ability to have patience and to learn to walk before you can run is very important. Trying to do more than your able to do, over extending yourself, and flying something you can’t afford to replace can set you back, and cause you to start over from the beginning. To avoid doing this, have a plan in mind, take it step by step, and work towards the end result while taking care of any problems that may arise. It may sound like common sense, and an easy task, but you will be surprised at some of the things that my pop up as you try to build your corporation.

Starting with the industrial route may be the best way to go, you can get started fairly easy, and you don’t need a lot of skills or ships to start turning out the ISK. I would recommend that at least one person in your Corporation has good refining skills, if not, have someone working that angle since it will benefit you greatly. The easiest way to start making ISK is to go out and mine ore. Once you have a good amount of it you can try selling it on the market, but better yet refining the ore and selling the minerals will make you a little more ISK. We started out that way. We would mine hundreds of thousands of ore, refine it down and sell it in Jita. We did this for months, and every time we went to Jita the Corporation wallet grew. You have to also provide some incentive to your miners. You can’t assume that they are going to just give you their ore without some form of payment themselves. What we did was to provide corporate contracts for their ore at 6.5% below Jita buy price. Granted it was less than if they took it to Jita themselves, but they had no need to refine or haul their product, all they had to do was mine the ore, sell it to the corporation and go back to mining, easy money for them, and the corporation took care of the rest. This is where patience takes over, do not get to the point that you think you have to move forward before your ready, set yourself a goal of a certain amount of ISK. Once you meet this goal, go on to your next step. We did this when we were planning on building a jump freighter. Our goal was to build three freighters and sell them before building the fourth that would be used in the production of the actual jump freighter itself. This allowed us to accumulate enough ISK to afford some researched blueprint originals, and the T2 materials to start building it.

Starting out trying to make ISK through PvP, or mission running is another animal altogether and requires a totally different approach. I myself consider mission running as a prelude to PvP, the ship fittings are different, but you are moving in the direction of ship to ship combat instead of mining asteroid belts. This is if you run security missions. There are different types of missions, but running mining missions, for anything other than reputation is worthless in my eyes, you could mine more ore, and make more ISK just hitting the belts on your own. There are numerous agents and types of missions available. The chart below gives you some idea of what you can expect from certain agents in game.

What kind of leader are you going to be? I want you to know now, there is no such thing as a democracy in EvE. You will be the one that will be running your corporation. In the post I want to talk about you, not your officers, or how you set up your corporation. How are you going to act? Because this is what’s going to make or break your corporation. You can rule with an iron fist, accepting no quarter for what you expect from your members, and accepting no less then perfection. Or you can lead, teach, and work with your members to build your corporation up and make it into the vision you have for it through teamwork. Either way is viable, however you have to remember that this is a game that people pay for to play, and to enjoy. They will not accept to be continually badgered and harassed for their actions, and stay with you. I use the word continually because there are times that you will be harassed and badgered but that’s for another discussion pertaining to fleets, and fleet commanders.

I want you to remember that when people join your corporation they have seen something that related to them as a person and that they wanted to be a part of your vision. Work with these people, listen to their ideas, and comments about how your corporation is run and act accordingly. I am not saying that you have to change what you’re doing, or how you’re doing it, just to listen to what people have to say. Sometimes you will find that there may be an easier way of getting from point A to Point B, or that there is a better way to make something happen. There are people out there with a different set of skills than you have, you this to your advantage. Like the President of a nation, to the best Corporate CEO, they have learned to surround themselves with the best people that shore up their weaknesses and make the whole of their corporation / administration stronger.

Your goal as a leader should be to do what is necessary to grow your corporation both financially, as well as emotionally. Financially through whatever means you have at your disposal. I will not go into what this means, because depending on your vision for your corporation this could be industrial, or piracy. Emotionally build your members through caring what they think, and what they need to grow. Being a leader that is concerned with these things will create a bond with your officers, and members that will not soon be forgotten. Make sure you’re not one to climb over people to get what you want they will remember this and make sure you don’t do it to them again.

If something your doing is not working don’t be afraid to switch up and trying something different. The worst thing you can do is keep banging your head against a wall trying to make it work. As long as you work with your people, and your officers, and they are all working with you to build the corporation in the direction that works for your vision you need to keep it going and see how far you can take it.

The biggest and most complex of commodities in the world of EvE Online are the people that you will be leading in your corporation. They come in all shapes, sizes, colors, nationalities, but this doesn’t matter to you it’s who they are that will matter. The people that will be joining your corporation will be one of the types we will be discussing, and I will try to give you some help as to what can be done about them.

The first grouping will be active to non-active players. Then we will look at them as individuals.

The Active Player:

These players will make up the core of your corporation. They will be the ones that will be online the most, and will be the driving force behind you building your company up.

The Want to be Active Player:

These players are mostly good people, but because of real life issues don’t have the time to be as productive to the corporation. They honestly want to be there for you and the corporation they joined, but just can’t find the time.

The Non-Active Player:

These players had good intentions when they applied, and even logged on a couple of times, but have just disappeared and hasn’t been seen in weeks. There could be a lot of reasons for this, but you have to move on, and remove them from your members list. Before you remove the member though, send them a EvE-mail stating that when they become active again you would gladly accept them back to your corporation.

These are the major differences between players as individuals, in my opinion.

The Lone Wolf:

This guy/gal joins the Corporation, and is active, but you never see him/her in your system, or showing up for corporate made events such as roams, or group mining nights. He/she is friendly enough when you talk to him/her, but that is not very often. He/she is hardly on Teamspeak, if you use a voice server. All you know is that he’s/she’s online, and doing something.

The first thing I would try to do is ascertain what he may be doing, and if there is a reason that he is acting this way. Some people are anti-social. If you find that he/she is doing things that may be against what your company stands for then drop him/her, but if they are not doing anything that could be harmful then it’s your call to let them be, or let them go.

The Veteran (Type A):

This player has been playing EvE for awhile now, and has the skills points to prove it. They are knowledgeable about most things in game, and willing to pass what they know on to the corporation to help it grow.

I would cherish these players as they will be there, and give you a wealth of information that you can use to propel your new company in the right direction. Always take care of these people, and never make them feel like you’re taking them for granted.

The Veteran (Type B):

This player has been playing EvE for awhile now, and has the skills points to prove it. They are knowledgeable about most things in game, and are somewhat unhappy about the way EvE is evolving. They may come online in a haphazard pattern, and you can never count on them to be there. When they do come online, they are helpful and guiding.

Understand what you have with these players. They are helpful when they are online, so be happy that they are part of your corporation. I would not get them involved in anything that would need them to be relied upon though as you could get caught waiting days to get that item produced, or the material they said they would get for you.

The Rookie:

Some like to use the word noob, but I usually don’t. These people are brand new to EvE, and due to the games steep learning curve will need some help learning the ropes. If you take these people into your corporation, be aware that you will need to be there with a guiding hand. We use a program of giving them the tools to grow, and an open door policy to answer any of their questions.

The Egotist:

This player knows everything, quite literally. The only problem is, they know this, and want to make sure you do too. They want to make sure that they are treated special for their knowledge.

These people can be more trouble than they are worth, you will have to gauge just how much you need someone like this in your corporation, and where he may fit in. This player can cause massive drama within the corporation, and that is something you just don’t need.

The Doer:

This player is your ultimate sweet spot, doing what he can for the corporation, and going that extra mile. These are the players that you want to groom for management positions within your corporation. They show up for corporate events, and even help out with running them. They don’t ask for things in return, and are honestly concerned about seeing the corporation grow and become something bigger and better.

These people are a great asset to you and the corporation. You have to make sure they don’t burn themselves out, and that they get the proper recognition within your corporation for all their hard work.

 The Clueless:

These people are quite simply clueless. They have gone and got themselves blown up, and even after you explain what happened, and how it can be avoided, they go and do it again. There is no teaching them the right way they have to find out for themselves that EvE is harsh, and brutal.

It’s up to you to decide, how many times, is enough with these people. My personal best was four in one week.

The Taker:

These people seem good enough from afar, but as time goes on things change. Running a corporation means building up the corporation wallet, and to do that you have to have a plan. Whether that be through industrial means, or a PvP route you will decide how it’s going to happen. Takers will feign wanting to be working for the corporation, but you start to realize that they would rather use the corporation to benefit themselves, and their wallets.

You will notice this more in a low or null sec area, as keeping POS’s fueled, and the greater need for teamwork will show who someone really is quicker. They will want to use the POS’s and all the arrays they can. They will also want the corporation to buy materials that are needed to create fuel, but not put anything towards all the things needed to sustain corporate operations.

The Giver:

These people will give you there last ISK. They are giving to a fault, and just want to help out everyone. Although there is nothing wrong with this type of behavior you have to watch that they don’t get taken advantage of by people inside or outside the corporation.

If the person learns from his mistakes, and can avoid doing the same things over, and over again they would worth keeping.

I’m sure I have missed out on some types of personalities. These are just some of the types I have run across in my travels.

There are several types of reputation, but for EvE players they are intertwined. You have your individual reputation, and that of your Corporation as a whole. Reputation with NPC Corporations is important because it will give you better refine rates, jump clone capabilities, and loyalty point purchases. When leading a corporation you need to do anything and everything possible to cut down on your expenses and take care of your bottom line.

Industrial & Refining

Refining skills coupled with a really good reputation in the station that you use for your production, and refining can save you lots of ISK. If you fleet up with one of your corporate mission runners, you can have an industrial skilled toon acquire reputation points towards the NPC Corporation you are trying to get your better refining reputation for.

Jump Clones

Jump clones can also come in handy, but you will need an individual reputation of over 8.0, or an overall corporation rating of over 8.0 to be able to use that NPC Corporation. As a CEO, you can find an out of the way NPC Corporation with which you can gain reputation to over a 8.0 and make sure no one that joins your corporation ever runs missions for them. This will keep the overall corporation reputation to 8.0 or more, and everyone can use the NPC stations to get their jump clones from. If anyone ever runs a mission for that NPC Corporation your reputation, being overall, will be an average of all of your corporations’ members’ reputation with that NPC Corporation.

Your Reputation

There is one more reputation that you as a CEO must be aware of, but even though it’s not a mechanic of the game, it is a byproduct of your corporation. Your reputation as a corporation is carried with every member of your corporation, and with every action that members does. Upon joining your budding company, every member wears a jacket with your insignia for everyone in the game to see. Be aware of what your members are doing, if you don’t condone it, or feel that they are giving your corporation a negative image then you need to rectify the situation before you find yourself in a war dec, or worse.

Communication is one of the most important things within your corporation. Knowing what is going on, and who is doing what will help you move your corporation forward. There are many forms of communication you can use, but I want to deal with written communication first. This will be your first form of communication, before Team speak, mumble, or any other Voice server.

No discussion of communication is complete without mentioning the importance of effective writing skills. No matter what you do for the corporation, at some point you’re going to put words on electronic paper. You might need to write a memo, a report, or a policy change. What you say matters; how you say it can matter more. Although writing is a life skill, not just a job skill, many people turn into babbling bureaucrats when they write. There's no reason for you’re writing to be any more convoluted than talking. In fact, it can be easier to write because you focus just on your presentation. In fact, it's as easy as three steps that you can view as your AIM:

Make separate lists to answer each of these three questions. Then use your lists as an outline and begin writing. Write as though your audience is sitting in front of you and you are talking to them. Hold the slang, but stay conversational. Write enough content (your message) to cover your intent — no more. Be sure the vocabulary you choose is appropriate for your audience; steer clear of jargon.

Don't let the process of writing intimidate you. It's just another form of communication. The best way to begin writing is to start with what's on your mind. Keep in mind that you don't have to start at the beginning. You can rearrange your blocks of words after you get them down on screen. Often one idea flows into the next once you get started, leading you through all of what you want to say. And remember, nobody gets it just right the first time. Writing is a process of editing and revision. If you don't like the way something sounds, change it.

Keep It Concise

To keep your focus clear and clean, make sure every sentence contributes to your intent and message in a way that is relevant to your members. The poor yield from the mining operation last week was interesting, but the members receiving your mail just need to know the problems and the suggestions for remedying them. The typical member gives a mail about eight seconds to prove itself worthy of further interest and more time. Brevity counts!

EvE-mail Issues

Ironically, it's the proliferation of electronic communication that most graphically illustrates the need to address writing skills. The speed with which we can zip messages across the EvE Universe makes us behave as though we must take every available shortcut to save even more time, circumventing the processes that effective writing requires. The instantaneous nature of EvE-mail makes us feel as though we have to read and write at the same speed. But we don't (and can't), and trying to is often a direct route to misunderstanding. The same guidelines for effective communication on paper apply in the paperless environment of cyberspace.

Because e-mail is instantaneous, it's easy to fire off responses and comments without thinking about potential ramifications. The fact that most of us delete EvE-mail messages once we've read or sent them gives the impression that they are temporal communications, existing only in time just like conversations in person or over the phone (and just as private). Wrong! This is a common and potentially hazardous belief. Any mail you send can be forwarded to anyone in the game.

If you wouldn't write something in a letter or a memo, don't write it in an EvE-mail message, either. With Mailing lists and the ability to forward, the message you send to your members “for your eyes only” could end up on hundreds of other computers. EvE-mail messages have embarrassed CEO’s and miners alike, and they are an increasing source of evidence in Diplomacy issues. That offhand comment you fire off in response to a question about someone's screw up could become an electronic ghost that returns to haunt you days or weeks from now.

Now that you are in control of your new corporation, it’s time to look at what kind of command structure you’re going to use. Remember that anyone you make a director will have almost full access to your whole Corporation, its bank accounts, and all stored items. Use of the titles option, I have found, works a lot better than trying to assign individual roles to people. If you go to the manage titles tab, you can change a name to something like recruit, and then flip through and assign what all recruits will be able to access within your corporation. You can then make other titles, like member, miner, refiner, production specialist, combat pilot, and anything else you can imagine and set those titles up the way you want to. Using this method, you can better control all access to your corporate hangers, and bank accounts. The use of secure containers will also help with item control as you can set a password that only the people you choose can get in to.

What you set up will be dependent on the size of your corporation right now, and making it able to expand and contract as you grow larger or lose members is essential. To start with the initial size of the corporation will dictate what you need for leadership, if it’s small then you alone can probably run it for now. As you grow, you will probably want to separate things a little to keep control of what’s going on. We made divisions in our corporation to keep a flow within the division as well as in, and out of the other divisions. Currently, we have a Mining Division, Production Division, and a Military Division. Within these divisions, we have made it easy to expand or contract that division to reflect what may be going on in that division at the time. As an example, Our Mining Division started with just one high-sec mining foreman, and his miners, but now has both a high-sec, and null-sec division within the mining division itself. The ability to keep things in divisions allows you to keep an eye on certain sections, know what they should be doing, and catch a problem before it gets worse.

I set up my Command as a triad type leadership, meaning that there are three co-leaders that run our corporation. Any good leader will recognize and address that they are not perfect, and even though you are a strong and capable leader, surrounding yourself with people that are strong where you are weak is a very good practice. Presidents, and Kings have done this, why shouldn’t you. If you have a person that you can trust, that you know when you are offline, is looking out for the corporation, and that you don’t worry about when you’re not around, you may want to consider him for a leadership position in your corporation. I have two great co-leaders, one is my mentor, the person that gave me the CEO position to begin with, and without whom I probably wouldn’t be running this thing today. He has been playing for a long time, and knows a lot of information about the game, from ship fittings, and capabilities, to market trends, and production. This is my go to guy for all knowledge that is EvE. If he doesn’t know the answer, he knows where to find it. My other co-leader excels in numbers, and spread sheets. He can make a spreadsheet for just about anything, and he watches over a lot of our build projects. He has been instrumental in our building Fenrir’s and our jump freighter. We work well together, and run the corporation well due to the different strengths and weaknesses we have, and together we have each others’ back.

Starting a new corporation in not all that hard, and the skills needed are minimal to begin with. Once you have the Corporation Name all set, and you enter into being a Chief Executive Officer is where the fun starts. In order to run a good corporation you really need only three things, common sense, logical thinking, and the will to make the things you want to happen, happen. At this point you should be asking yourself a lot of questions, but let’s start with the basics. The first thing you need to do is look around your corporation and see just what you have to work with. I understand the want to dream big, but we need to be realistic in what we can do right now, and what we can work towards for the future.

We have to start with some kind of plan, or foundation if you will. Just like building a house, you need to make sure you build your corporation on a solid foundation so you will always know it can remain stable. Your foundation should begin with what you’re corporation is going to represent right now, and how you’re going to achieve the goals you want to set for it. What will your corporation do? There are a lot of different ways you could go, mining, production, player vs. player, hauling, piracy, any combination of things are possible in EvE. Whatever you choose, design your foundation to support it. If you go industrial, start off with mining, build to production, then expand on that to capital ship production. The steps I listed are the basics, and you would need to make a business plan how you would get from point A to point B, who would do what, and how it’s going to get there. If you’re a one man corporation it’s easy, all your people work for you by way of several accounts, and dual boxing et all. When other real life people are involved, it gets a bit more complicated. What are the people’s skills in your corporation? How will they fit in with your overall plan?

There should always be two sets of goals, short term, and a long term. The short term goal would be right now, what you’re going to do at this minute to grow your corporation. The long term goal would take into account, growing skill sets, better ships, and recruitment.

If all your people can do is mine right now, then that’s what you want them doing while you get them to skill up. You as a corporation can help them with making ISK, instead of them mining for free and giving it to the corporation (although this should be done once a week to help with corporate expenses, and bring everyone together), use the corporation contracts to buy their ore from them. This allows your people to make some ISK, buy new things, and feel like they’re getting somewhere. Make sure that you make the contracts out for at least Jita (or nearest trade hub) sell price, we use -6.5% off Jita (or nearest trade hub) sell price, since they don’t have to worry about refining it, or hauling it anywhere. This will either require you to create a spreadsheet to keep track of Jita (or nearest trade hub) prices for the types of ore available in your system, or you can try using a notebook (I suggest getting cozy with excel, you will be using it a lot). We also offer incentives to our newer members. Retrievers are cheap, and when our members gain the skills to use one, we give it to them. It makes them happy, and it allows them to mine more for your corporation. It’s a win for all.

In an industrial corporation you would look to raise skills to exhumers for your miners, having someone raise their Refining skills to work towards perfect refine in the station your corporation is based out of, and having someone skill up to be able to fly haulers, freighters, and finally an Orca. Some of these would be your long term goals, as you build your mining Corporation bigger, these will be what you will need, and starting to work on them now is important. Also, as you’re building your Company up, keep in mind that the Reputation with the corporation that you are based out of is very important. The better your reputation is with them, the less they will take from you when refining ore. Fleet up your main refining character, and then run missions with your mission runner. When you turn in your mission, both characters will get reputation.

You can start off slow by buying your miners ore, refining it, and taking it to market to sell, as long as you give your miners fair price for their ore, and since you would be doing the refining and the hauling of the minerals, no one should be put out. The corporation will make a little profit from the minerals, and until you have the skills you need to build, this is the fastest way to make a profit for your Corporation.

Before I knew of the existance of EvE Online, I was playing Tanks. Having been disenchanted with World of Warcraft, I had played for seven years, and the "Been there, done that" feeling had grown to the point of just wanting to walk away from it, and everything I had built. When I say that, it was now mere feat, at the time I was running a guild with over three hundred and thirty toons, and about thirty or so active players. The funny part of it all was I had never intended to run a guild again, after we has switched servers, and a few of us began again as horde characters. I guess it's in my blood to want to step up and try and make a place for my friends to have a place they can call home, and where their voices could be heard in what they wanted to do in game. We ended up recruiting a ton of great people, which I still miss some to this day, and our goal was to see end content of the game. We completed that goal, and it was enjoyable, for a time. Then came the expansions, and the vicious cycles of going and getting better gear, so we could get better gear, so we could get better gear and start raiding. It just seemed so redundant, and finally I was done with it all, I said goodbye to all my friends and walked away. I made sure the Guild was in good hands and that a large amount of my stuff went into the guild bank, sadly with all the soul bound items still sitting on my toon somewhere in the nether either gathering dust. I started my journey to find the next best thing for me to enjoy.

Along came Tanks, and I rejoiced. Well sort of, it still was a game you had to level up and build yourself up in, but it was different, and I think that's what I was ultimately looking for. I liked the fast paced game play, and the throw back to World War II look and feel of it. I joined a great team, guild, alliance, whatever you would call it, and the guys were great. There was one in particular that stuck me as a comrade in arms and as we played together we became good friends. This guy is important to the story as you will see, and as we played tanks he told me about EvE Online and what it had to offer. I figured I would take a look.

This guy at the time had his own corporation, nothing big, just for himself, and he offered to accept my trial account noob into it so I would have a place to call home. As I looked around New Eden, I found it to be a vast and interesting place full of opportunity and adventure. At first, I had what you would call information overload, there was so much to do, and so many different ways to do it that I was lost in a sea of possibilities. I think that if it wasn't for my new found friend in EvE, that I might have not logged on again, but he was there to give me a guiding hand and a few hundred ISK to boot, to get me started. I learned that even though I had my friend helping me out, and guiding me in my new adventure in EvE, not everyone was so helpful, well they were in their eyes, helping themselves to my jet can and hoping I would shoot back, which I did right before I died. Lesson one learned. My friend would then explain what had happened, and give me friendly advice so it wouldn't happen again. It was like sitting on your front porch, and that guy from down the street would walk by and say hi, and you would start talking about what it was really like during World War II. The Knowledge that he possessed was amazing, and I would have been a fool to not listen to the subtle and not so subtle things that EvE had to Offer, as long as I was aware of the things that could kill me, steal from me, and trick me into losing all that I had built up.

We talked about skill queues, ships, mining, being able to protect myself, and to not fly anything I couldn't afford to lose. We also touched on the subject of having multiple accounts, even though it would cost you twice as much, even more if you wanted more toons, to play it was well worth it. Needless to say, I saw the real benefit in this and started my second toon, she was going to be pure industrial while Zensai would continue down the military path, and someday fly those big ships ! I had asked him if he ever wanted to build his Corporation up and do something on a larger scale, which he replied that he had no problem with it, but never really thought about it all that much. When the time came for my friend to take a trip that would take him away from the game for a couple of weeks, we were looking a little better as a real Corporation. We had taken on a few people that were working out really well, and also becoming good friends as well. I also got my gaming family involved, both my brothers, and my nephew were playing EvE at the time, and in the Corporation as well. So when this all happened I think we had seven, or eight active players at the time, and my friend that started me down the road in EvE pulls me aside and says that while he's gone he wants me to be the CEO of the Corporation, and he trusted me with all the stuff that he owned. I was stunned, in a good way mind you, I took it as an honor and humbly accepted the role, and what came with it.
This is where the true story begins, and why I decided to start this blog. Even with a Hugh advantage of having a true veteran by my side helping me out along the way, there was a lot I had to learn, and do, if I was going to grow this Corporation into something that He and I could call amazing. There are a lot of aspects to this game, and particularly if you want to be a CEO of your own corporation that you have to learn, work towards, and implement that are not sitting there with a spotlight on them. I would like to write about my trials, tribulations, and achievements along the road to running a Corporation for over a year, and maybe help some up and coming CEO's, and anyone else to see what goes into running a Corporation in EvE Online. As I say in my Profile, these are my thoughts. Everyone has opinions, and the right to those opinions, some of what I write may not be what you would do, have done, or thinking of doing. Just take this as one mans story of what he did along the way.
I will probably also be blogging about other EvE Online things as well, but I would like to base this blog on being a CEO and what goes into doing that. Zensai Igunenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07792263776171574486noreply@blogger.com0
